This is a weed.

Bored.

I hate being bored. Being bored is the ultimate waste of time. It’s almost even worse than being stuck on a long car ride with an annoying kid. At least the kid is giving me some sense of emotion or thought.

Kid: are we there yet?
Me: no
Kid: are we there yet?
Me: no
Kid: are we there yet?
Me: no

Stream of thought: I will imagine you are a cute little puppy that is barking.

There are so many things I can direct my time and attention to, and being bored is not helping. I’m at work and am trying so hard not to look at the annoying clock located at the bottom right of my monitor. A year ago I ended up wasting several vacation days since I had too much work to do…and I was totally ok with it. Actually, I love being busy and being decently indespensible. Now, I’m counting how to allocate the rest of my days for the optimal effect—the least amount of burnage from being bored. Yes, I do get burned out from being bored.

I like my relaxing days…not to get mixed with days where I do nothing (leading to possible boredom). My relaxing days look something along the lines of watching tv (like my soulmate Dexter), a good work out, running errands like grocery shopping, brunch with friends, doing laundry, etc. Sounds like a simple day, but at least I am being proactive. I don’t think I’ve ever had a day of complete boredom where all I do is watch tv…at least not in the last 4 years. And I MUST be really bored if I end up reading. I hate reading. Funny I say that since I verbally agreed to join 3 bookclubs. hahahahaha. I’m trying.

So now, here I am at work…getting paid to write this blog, take a bathroom break every 15 minutes, pester my neighbors, and chit chat with O about being bored.

But in lieu of my boredom, I’ve been extremely grateful. Being bored isn’t really a problem, but merely motivation to seek other avenues of interest. No, I don’t want to do this for the rest of my life, let alone the next month. Due to my recent boredom, I’ve been applying to consulting gigs…mainly cause I really think I would do well as a consultant.

So there I go.

I made it to 3rd rounds and will be flying off to Florida to meet the team on Dec 6-7. I find out if I get the job on December 8th. I still have a couple of weeks, but I am already peeing in my pants. This was the job I wanted since college. I hope I get it.

Boredom, you only killed 30 minutes. DOH!
